Thank you to Jane & Roland at the Cuckhorn Estate
Over the Whitsun bank holiday Jane and Roland Horton opened their beautiful garden to the public under the National Garden Scheme and invited Bromyard Foodbank & Money Advice Centre to fundraise by providing refreshments in the form of tea, coffee, and cakes. Our volunteers did us proud with their baking and organisation and cakes galore were there for the eating. A Guinness Cake with a whisky butter cream went down a storm as did the many coffee and walnut cakes – always a favourite. There were also cakes for those with special requirements which greatly pleased our Trustee and Mayor of Bromyard, Dee Dunne-Thomas who happily tucked into the gluten free mini cakes. But enough of the cakes. The garden is a joy; designed to be enjoyed by means of a meander around little paths and over a mini bridge as one takes it all in. It bursts with variety and colour while at the same time invoking feelings of peacefulness and calm. Idyllic in so many ways and a tribute to Jane and her team at the Estate. The weather was kind and the sun shone throughout the two days drawing in the visitors who were very generous; the charity raised £1,000 also including sales from plants, greeting cards made by Lesley Worlock and a generous donation from Jane and Roland. Our thanks go to Jane & Roland; to our many volunteers who made the cakes and helped on both days – you know who you are; and to the visitors who bought the cakes – they all went!
As well as raising money the event was also an opportunity to raise the profile of the charity and thanks also to those who took interest in our work.
